TipLink operates independently of employers and does not require employer approval to be used.

A. From TipLink Users (Individuals)

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Optional phone number
  • Optional workplace or service context (e.g. role or sector)
  • Stripe account connection details (handled by Stripe)
  • Tip transaction records (amounts, dates, fees, payout status)
  • Subscription details (if applicable)
  • Optional customer messages or names
  • Usage and activity logs within the platform
  • Exported reports for personal records or tax purposes

B. From Customers (Tippers)

  • Tip amount
  • Optional name and message
  • Payment details (processed only by Stripe)
  • Device and browser information for fraud prevention

TipLink does not store card or bank details.

C. Technical & Usage Data

  • IP address
  • Device type and browser
  • Pages visited and session duration
  • Security and performance logs

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal data under the following lawful bases:

  • Contractual necessity – to provide access to TipLink services
  • Legitimate interests – platform security, fraud prevention, service improvement

TipLink does not sell or rent personal data.

  • Stripe – payment processing, subscriptions, and payouts
  • Platform infrastructure providers (e.g. Softr, Airtable, Make.com) – secure system operation
  • Legal or regulatory authorities – when required by law
  • Support channels (e.g. email or WhatsApp Business) – only when initiated by you

Stripe processes financial data under its own privacy and compliance policies.


7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary:

  • Account, transaction, and payout data: up to 6 years (legal and accounting requirements)
  • Security and analytics data: up to 24 months
  • Subscription records: up to 6 years

After Account Deletion

If you delete your TipLink account:

  • access is removed immediately
  • Stripe connections are disconnected

Some records may be retained securely to meet legal and financial obligations.

You may request formal data deletion where legally permitted.


8. Tax & Reporting Responsibility

TipLink provides downloadable transaction summaries for personal record-keeping.

TipLink does not report income to HMRC or other authorities.

Users are solely responsible for declaring income in accordance with local tax laws.


9. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion (where applicable)
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing

Marketing messages are sent only if you opt in and can be unsubscribed from at any time.

If a personal data breach occurs, TipLink will notify affected users and the ICO where required by law.
